Francois Pecard’s gloriously positioned three houses skillfully integrate architecture and landscape. The houses unfold interestingly, playing spectacular framed views against enclosed vistas, but without ever sacrificing the straightforwardness of the interior layouts, which provide everything that is required for holidaying on an island such as St. Barths. I love the variety of room heights, which show that Francois is a man with European background who has a very good knowledge of the local history and weather. The choice of materials is also cleaver and always feels appropriate. The generosity and sensitivity of the man is very much reflected in the work.
